CHERNOBYLITE REVIEW

I was given a Series X code by Publisher All In ! Games @AllinGamesPub and Developer The Farm 51 @TheFarm51

INTRODUCTION

Chernobylite is a sci fi survival horror RPG. Set in a hyper realistic 3D scanned wasteland of Chernobyl’s exclusion zone you take on the role of Igor looking for hes fiancée who disappeared here 30 years ago.

FEATURES

  • Stealth, Survival, Combat – Each day brings new challenges as you fight and your supplies diminish.
  • Base Building, Crafting – Build a base for your day to day operations use tools like workstations to make gadgets, traps, modify existing equipment to suit your needs.
  • Resource + Team Management – Companions are key to your survival, each day requires careful resource, tasks for your comrades.
  • Non- Linear Storytelling Strategy – No playthrough is the same you make your own choices in story, combat and the future is up to you.

Game is very pretty super detailed world felt alive and was a joy to explore.

Alot of different enemies all unique from soldiers to monsters and more all have own movement and reactions to learn.

Tons of weapon customization all very detailed and actually changes handling and feel of all weapons.

All weapons have own look and feel making them all original.

Creepy atmosphere made me jump and very paranoid as no music just ambient sounds in world making me hearing footsteps and feeling like was being watched all the time.

Base building mechanic is very cool as can build how you like with little touches for the base such as lights and more.

Alot of content for the price of £24.99 alot of replay ability as multiple options for dialogue and more.

CONS

Has a few issues with stability and audio stuff such as whenever would load game me audio would change from English to Russian and would have to go to audio settings to change back to English and had it crash more than a couple of times despite being on a Series X.

Can be very daunting at start as alot you need to build, farm and gather resources.

OVERALL SUMMARY

I GIVE THIS GAME A SCORE OF 8.5/10

Overall has a few issue such as game crashing, audio issues such as having go options as everytime loaded in audio was changed to Russian and can be very daunting at start. Game is full of content for £24.99 with loads of options for gun customization and story and world is very cool to explore.

Weapons all unique with own stats and feel and change your playstyle as shotguns great but no range and overheat fast.

Bosses all unique cool have own attack patterns and own strategy required to beat them.

Alot of difficulty options to suit everyone.

CONS

Can be challenging even on easy as very hard old school game.

Would of liked be able to free roam, explore take my time.

Once story done no unlimited, free roam option as cant farm on levels indefinitely.

Overall has alot of potential builds weapons even colors for car, enemy variety and bosses are awesome but is very hard and once done each area a couple of times you cant farm levels anymore but is a fun but challenging game.

Graphics are very good super detailed for the tracks and surrounding environments.

Huge variety of cars all are unique and have own stats and all have own feel to them and can be upgraded aswell.

Track builder is awesome as can make your own tracks then use them in races and upload them for the world to try.

Story mode offers alot of different events all are unique own feel to them.

Custom Livery options are great as you can download other peoples skins and color patterns or make your own then share online for your friends or anyone.

Challenging AI when set to medium or hard difficulties offers challenge for all types of players.

Simple fun just old school racing with boosts easy to pick up for everyone.

CONS

On easy races are very easy but if you change to medium or hard AI is very challenging and frustrating.

Annoying stage hazards can be frustrating as seem to always hit you.

Races can be very Samey and lacking.

OVERALL SUMMARY

Overall is a fun game in bursts as very pretty and detailed cars, tracks, Liveries. But AI is challenging on higher difficulties, hazards seem to always hit you and tracks can be very Samey.

Story was great and very interesting.

World was fun to explore felt alive.

Enemy’s are all cool and have unique look with own attack patterns and wys to counter deal with them.

Tons of weapons all have own look, stats and even had own feel which changed combat style.

Armors look great all are unique, with own weight, feel affecting how fast you roll damage you take.

Combat is fast paced and very dark souls inspired as very punishing.

Bosses are cool all with own attack patterns and own look and timing to find when you can counter or attack.

Love the little touches such as heals all in flask is filled up from kegs with Developer logo on it and story told with pictures lots of little touches are awesome.

CONS

Can be frustrating as game is hard challenging as doesn’t hold your hand at all you will die often.

OVERALL SUMMARY

I GIVE THIS GAME A SCORE OF 9.0/10

Overall can be challenging but persevere as game is very fun and has so many options make builds, playstyle to suit everyone even has Geralt Of Rivia-Doug Cockle voice as narrator

All Nexomon are cool and very unique all different.

Graphics are cool 2D animated style is different.

Tons of moves for all the Nexomon and great you can only have 4 moves but able swap abilities to however you like great make your Nexomon unique to your style.

Loved how fun the world was to explore all regions where unique in terms of look and Nexomon you can find and world felt alive.

You can catch all the Nexomon so doesn’t matter who you pick at the start.

Tactical side to using right types so fire beats plant water beats fire makes big difference during fights.

Great seeing what the Nexomon look like when they evolve and how they changed.

Amazing value for money tons of potential builds and there is 310 Nexomon to catch all for £7.99.

CONS

Can be annoying when trying to get one Nexomon to spawn if rare, mega rare especially if you kill it which I did often as trying get it to spawn seems random.

OVERALL SUMMARY

Overall can be frustrating if you kill a rare, mega rare Nexomon instead of catching as trying to get to spawn seems random. Game is amazing it basically as close to a Pokémon game and very deep customization options for making your own fighting style with moves you like and game is full of content for the £7.99.

Base building was nice little touch and fun as can build base how you want.

Loads of skill options to make your own builds all change gameplay from using heavy weapons to lockpicking and planting and diffusing traps.

Characters you meet all different and unique.

10 Hour single player 16 missions which is good value for your money.

CONS

Graphics are nice but look dated and maps/world did not feel alive.

Controls are abit janky not as smooth as would of liked.

Doesn’t feel very smooth on controller is clunky for movement, menu navigation.

Overall is a interesting fun game that offers alot of build options and funny as use a PLUNGER as a weapon but has issues like graphics are little bit dated and is janky with the controls and not very smooth on controller for movement menu navigation.

High replay value for the price as there is 10 different endings.

Graphics are cool, different art style.

Puzzles are cool and some make you think.

Combat is fast and enjoyable with alot of variety.

Cool skills that change depending on the weapon you are using and all have own feel making them unique.

CONS

No way skip cutscenes/Tutorial videos which can be annoying.

Combat can feel abit janky sometimes not as fluid would of liked.

Overall combat can feel abit janky sometimes but game is very fun and offers an original experience with alot of replay ability and fun to play.

Loads to food you can grow then combine make better food for health, stat bonuses or to sell them for money.

All magic is different and has alot of options choose spells you like.

Combat is simple and fast paced.

Huge amount of skills for weapons, magic giving you alot of opportunity to suit your own playstyle make builds that you like.

Graphics very cool very detailed areas.

Story was interesting from start to finish.

Puzzles are fun and challenging very old school makes you think not just find said key or something here is example of the puzzles.

Main weapon is different as was expecting your standard Knife Pistol but nope your melee is Crowbar and your main weapon is a Nail Gun which is very cool unique.

Old school Resident Evil or Alone In The Dark very nostalgic and felt good.

Creepy atmosphere keeps you on edge as always feel like something is there and the darkness will kill you if you go in dark room without your lighter.

Game is challenging not like newer games like Resident Evil Village game does not hold your hand and you will die lots.

CONS

Old school puzzles are fun but may frustrate some as not explained well.

Combat is awkward clunky as no actual aim reticle makes you waste alot of ammo.

Fixed camera angles is very old school but found myself getting killed alot as was very hard to see enemy’s and avoid being hit by them.

OVERALL SUMMARY

Overall is cool with good graphics and very creepy good puzzles and if you want a nostalgic trip then it fun. But is clunky and puzzles can be frustrating but you will die lots and has no autosave.

PROS

Alot to do in terms of growing and building items for your farm.

World felt alive and was interesting to explore.

Monsters were great all unique in look and stats and all own abilities make different.

Characters you meet are all different you can charm shopkeepers to get discounts on items they sell.

Game changes during seasons which changes which food and monsters you able to grow which is cool.

Relaxing farming gameplay that doesn’t rush meaning can take your time is nice.

Soil level feature is great as everytime your monsters die you gain hearts which you can use to improve the level of your next batch of monsters you can grow.

CONS

Controls are fiddly and kinda clunky when using a controller.

No real depth to combat just spam strongest move not even able switch monsters out during fights.

Found myself lost as no objective page or tasks bar made me feel lost.

OVERALL SUMMARY

I GIVE THIS GAME A SCORE OF 7.5/10

Overall has a ton of content for the price of £14.99. Has cool ideas and very fun but downside is that has clunky controls, shallow combat and no objective or task screen made me feel lost and hurts fun but game is unique.

* Game changes during seasons as monsters,food you able grow change.
* Relaxing farming gameplay doesn't rush you.
* Soil level feature is great as everytime monsters die use hearts to improve raise next level of farmed monsters.
CONS

* Controls are fiddly kinda clunky on controller.
* Found myself lost and confused as no objective screen or tasks made me feel lost.
* No real depth to combat just end up spamming strongest attack not even able switch monsters in fights.
